The Achievement System is Onward's gamification feature, streaks and badges that keep users motivated and build consistent mental health habits. Streaks track consecutive days of engagement, badges unlock at specific milestones. Both tie into Onward's point system, where activity earns real rewards.
I redesigned Streaks & Badges to make progress feel more rewarding, give milestones an identity, and build anticipation into each badge. I worked closely with engineering on validation and approval, and used AI to help generate copy and badge name concepts.

The streak and badge system was not delivering the motivation and consistent engagement it had the potential to create.
My goal was to make every milestone feel personal, rewarding, and tied to something bigger than a number so that once users earned a badge, they were excited to keep going and earn the next one.
Every badge choice came back to making the user feel good about their progress and motivated to keep working toward their goals.
